    Aritra Sinha

Food scientist, researcher, and entrepreneur working at the intersection of food science, nutrition, and human behavior. Aritra Sinha is a PhD researcher at the University College Cork where his research focuses on dairy science, particularly milk proteolytic systems and how protein breakdown influences dairy processing, product quality, and functionality.

Before beginning his doctoral research, he spent four years in the food industry working in product development and food composition. During this time he worked closely with ingredient systems, food formulation, and processing, developing a deep understanding of how components such as sugar, fat, protein, and food structure influence taste, satiety, and eating behavior.

His broader work explores how the structure and composition of foods shape human cravings and consumption patterns. He studies how combinations of sugar, fat, texture, and processing alter reward responses in the brain and drive eating behavior, often beyond simple hunger.

He is the founder of CraveShift, a science-driven platform that helps people decode food cravings and make smarter food choices using insights from food science, neuroscience, and behavioral psychology. The platform focuses on helping users understand what is happening inside foods and how specific food components and structures influence cravings and satisfaction.

Aritra is also the author of the book Why Junk Food Is Too Hard to Quit, where he explains the science behind ultra-processed foods, cravings, and the biological mechanisms that make certain foods difficult to resist. Through research, writing, and digital tools, he aims to translate complex food science into practical insights that help people build a healthier relationship with food.
